Girls Cross Country Run to Personal Bests at Otsego Invite

The Grandville girls cross country team had incredible performances at the Otsego Invitational this past Saturday, with 19 personal best and 16 season best times.

 

The varsity girls took seventh out of eleven teams, beating out eighth and ninth place but just a few valuable points. Maddy Wolf (20:33) led the team with an outstanding final kick, achieving her personal best time by one minute. Close behind was Madison Malon (20:41) who showed incredible teamwork as she guided and led the pack of varsity runners for the whole race. Grace Hoekema (20:49), Lindsay Kernanen (20:50), and Jenna Brewer (21:15) rounded out an excellent race by the varsity runners.

 

The JV girls took fifth out of nine teams, also beating out two other schools by just a few points. The team was led by Hailey Kempf (21:46) and Kaylee Scott (21:56), who both achieved season best times. Sophia Hopkins (22:30), Braylon Taylor (22:44), and Alex Webster (22:44) followed close behind, achieving their personal best times by very large margins.

 

Many other girls ran to personal best times, including Lindsay Keranen, Emily Gray, Rose Meyer, Halle Oczepek, Grace Fitzgerald, Kseniya Korbut, Natalie Lehman, Jennifer Tran, Lucia Alberini, Candice Zoeller, Sydney Spicuzza, Ayden Rycenga, Mila Kosalla, Dhakiya Weir, and Lacey McGillicuddy.

 

Season best times were accomplished as well by Madison Malon, Grace Hoekema, Jenna Brewer, Grace Kaminski, Tori Francis, Ashlyn Luke, Alexis DeMaar, Sawyer Haisma, Lauren Dittmer, Anna McGillicuddy, Grace Blauwiekel, Caeley Tallon, and Felicia Rocha-Adams.

 

The girls will be racing next at their second Jamboree meet this Tuesday at Hudsonville.
