Girls Cross Country Race at Portage Invitational

The Grandville girls cross country team ran a well-fought race at Portage this Saturday in weather ranging from hot, humid and muddy conditions to misty rain, temperatures dipping drastically, and more mud. The varsity team was led by freshman Emily Gray (21:55), Grace Hoekema (22:16), Maddy Wolf (22:51), Jenna Brewer (23:11), and Sophia Hopkins (23:22). Kaylee Scott (22:49) led the JV team, followed by Rose Meyer (22:59), Alex Webster (23:32), Halle Oczepek (24:02), and Grace Kaminski (24:47).
Alaina Wright and Georgia Moody made their debut race after coming back from injury for their first ever cross country 5k. Meanwhile Carly Duffy (26:57) ran to a personal best time, and Felicia Rocha-Adams (28:28) ran another season best time.
The girls are gearing up to race at their conference meet on Thursday October 18 at Riverside Park.
