Girls Cross Country Finish 6th at Regional Meet

Bulldogs Lose: -
The girls cross country team placed sixth at the regional meet this past Saturday, moving up from their seventh place regional ranking. Chloe DeRidder (18:59) finished fifth and qualified for the MHSAA State cross country finals taking place next weekend November 4 at Michigan International Speedway.
The rest of the varsity team finished their season with strong performances. Macallie Retan (20:11) placed 26th with a personal record time, followed by Audrey Huff (20:28) in 35th. Kyrstie Celebuski (21:05) and Bella Cardenas (21:30) were next for Grandville in 48th and 57th place respectively, both with personal record times.
Izzy Hernandez led the JV team with a new personal record (22:58), followed by Bradey Harmelink (23:20), Erin Taylor (23:31) who tied her personal record, Odessa Bristol (26:21), and Emma Kusmierski (28:35).
An additional personal record was achieved by Leona Keuvelaar (21:55), and a season best by Jordyn Harrington (22:30).

The Grandville girls' cross country team placed 6th at the OK RED Conference meet, moving up from their 7th and 8th place finishes at the prior two OK RED Jamboree meets.
Chloe DeRidder (18:48) led the girls in fourth place, earning All-Conference and running the 6th fastest time ever on the Riverside Park course for GHS girls cross country. Audrey Huff (20:20) finished thirtieth in a new personal record, followed by Macallie Retan (20:31) in 36th. Kyrstie Celebuski (21:13) stepped up with a huge performance in 44th place and a new personal record by over a minute, followed by Leona Keuvelaar (22:02), who ran a personal record and took 51st place.
The JV girls were led by Bella Cardenas (21:48) in 11th place and a new personal record by almost a minute. Bradey Harmelink (23:01) was next in 44th and a season best, followed by Izzy Hernandez (23:17) with a personal best, Daniela Atkins (25:23), and Andie Buursma (25:33) with a personal best.
Additional personal records were set by Odessa Bristol (26:16) with a one minute PR, Siru Strommer (28:53), and Angelica Wollen (26:52). Season bests were achieved by Jordyn Harrington (22:31), and Emma Kusmierski (28:26).

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 26th out of 32 schools at the Portage Invitational on Saturday, just ahead of their OK RED Conference competitor East Kentwood. Chloe DeRidder (18:45) led the team with a 14th place finish in one of the largest meets in the state, and with the eighth fastest time ever for GHS girls cross country on this course. The duo of Macallie Retan (20:56) and Audrey Huff (21:07) finished next, followed by the second racing pair, Leona Keuvelaar (22:09) in a new personal record, and Kyrstie Celebuski (22:29) with a season best.
The JV team was led by Izzy Hernandez (23:21) with a personal record, Bradey Harmelink (24:04), Daniela Atkins (25:27), Odessa Bristol (27:17) with a personal record, and Emma Kusmierski (29:09) with a season record.
Additional personal bests were set by Erin Taylor (23:31), Siru Strommer (29:42) , and Africa Bernabeu Rosa (31:16).
The girls are gearing up to run their last regular season cross country race at the OK RED Conference meet at Riverside Park Thursday, October 19.
Girls Cross Country Place 8th at OK RED Jamboree

The girls cross country team competed at their second Jamboree meet of the season, placing 8th. Chloe DeRidder (19:44) led the Grandville team with a sixth place finish, followed by Audrey Huff (21:34) and Macallie Retan (21:40) taking 26th and 30th place respectively. Bella Cardenas (23:27) and Leona Keuvelaar (23:42) rounded out the top five for the Grandville girls. The team will compete next at the Portage Invitational this Saturday October 7.
Girls Cross Country Finish 7th at Falcon Invite

The Grandville girls cross country team finished 7th out of 13 schools at the Allendale Falcon Invite on Saturday. Chloe DeRidder led the team with a personal record and second place finish. Her time of 18:44 is the fourth fastest time ever for a Grandville girl on this course, and puts her in the all-time top ten for Grandville girls cross country. Macallie Retan (20:23) finished next for Grandville, with a time just outside of the top ten for Grandville girls cross country on this course. She placed 25th, earning a medal and smashing her personal record. Audrey Huff (20:44), Kyrstie Celebuski (22:39), and Leona Keuvelaar (22:55) all finished with solid performances, rounding out the top five for Grandville.
The JV girls took 8th out of 13 schools. Bradey Harmelink (23:27) led the pack with a new season best and a top 50 finish. Erin Taylor (23:44) was close behind, finishing with a new personal best, followed by Izzy Hernandez (24:00), Ellery Johnson (24:12), and Daniela Atkins (24:38), all with personal record times.
Additional personal records were set by Siru Strommer (31:30) and Africa Bernabeu Rosa (33:07), and another season best was set by Jordyn Harrington (23:03).
The Grandville girls look forward to their next race at Caledonia High School Tuesday October 3 for the second Jamboree of the season.
Girls Cross Country Place 7th at First OK-RED Jamboree

Bulldogs Lose: -
The girls cross country team ran their first Jamboree of the season at Rockford East Middle School, placing 7th in a very competitive conference. Chloe DeRidder finished third overall with a personal record of 18:54, which makes her the twelfth fastest runner ever for Grandville girls cross country. Audrey Huff (21:02) finished in 32nd, followed by Macallie Retan in 42nd (21:24). The duo of Kyrstie Celebuski (22:32) and Leona Keuvelaar (22:34) rounded out the top five Grandville girls, with Kyrstie running a season record and Leona running a new personal record by over 40 seconds. Africa Bernabeu Rosa (33:30) also ran to a personal best by just under ten seconds.
The girls will compete next at the Allendale Falcon Invite Saturday September 30.

The Grandville girls cross country team took 14th place at the Ottawa Hills Invitational Friday at Riverside Park. Chloe DeRidder placed 11th with a personal record (19:22), followed by Macallie Retan (20:55) and Audrey Huff (21:11) both with season bests, Bella Cardenas (22:23) with a personal record, and Kyrstie Celebuski (22:56) with a season record.
The JV team took 13th, led by Izzy Hernandez (24:48), Ellery Johnson (25:01), and Daniela Atkins (25:53), all with personal best times. In their first race of the season, both Andie Buursma (25:55) and Siru Strommer (31:35) rounded out the top five JV.
Additional personal records were set by Erin Taylor (23:57) and Africa Bernabeu Rosa (33:38), and season records were set by Emma Kusmierski (32:26), Leona Keuvelaar (23:25), Jordyn Harrington (23:36), and Bradey Harmelink (23:49).
The girls look forward to their next meet Tuesday September 19 at Rockford East Middle School for their first Jamboree of the season.
Girls Cross Country Finish Runner-Up at Hill and Bale Invite

Bulldogs Lose: -
The Grandville girls cross country team placed second out of seven teams this weekend at the Hill and Bale Invite, where they had to run a 5k while jumping over multiple hay bales. Chloe DeRidder led the team with a first place finish in 20:10. Audrey Huff was Grandville’s second runner in 22:07 with a 9th place finish, followed by Macallie Retan in 22:50 in 12th. Bella Cardenas placed just outside the top 20 in 23:54, followed by Leona Keuvelaar (24:43), Erin Taylor (25:21), and Jordyn Harrington (25:50).
In the JV race, the girls finished 3rd, led by Kyrstie Celebuski with a first place finish in 25:12. The duo of Izzy Hernandez and Ellery Johnson placed 13th (27:18) and 14th (27:19) respectively. Africa Bernabeu Rosa (35:08) finished in the top 50 with a new personal record by six minutes, followed by Emma Kusmierski (35:36), who also placed in the top 50.
The girls look forward to racing again Friday September 15 at the Ottawa Hills Invite at Riverside Park.
Girls Cross Country Finish 4th at Under the Lights Invite

The Grandville girls cross country team ran strong at the Under the Lights Invite Friday night for their first race of the season, placing 4th as a team. Chloe DeRidder led with a third-place finish and fifteenth fastest time ever for a junior Grandville girls cross country runner. Her time of 19:33 also makes her the 25th fastest Grandville girls cross country runner. Audrey Huff (21:48) finished in 20th, followed by Macallie Retan (22:18) in 28th, Bella Cardenas (23:13) in 39th, and Leona Keuvelaar (24:41) in 56th.
The girls will compete next at the Hill and Bale Invite Saturday September 9 at Fremont Middle School.
